CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (September 11, 2021) U.S. Army Spc. Amanda Steele from Westminster, Md., assigned to Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), rings the bell in recognition of the 2,977 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Volunteer service members served as readers and bell ringers for each of the victims lost. Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ) serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia. The base enables maritime and combat operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-Africa relations.
