Gen. Stephen R. Lyons (left), commander, U.S. Transportation Command, answers a question from a McConnell Scholars fellow during a speaking engagement on leadership at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky, Sept. 10, 2021. Lyons provided insights on leadership based on his 38 years of military experience and discussed how his command executed the largest non-combatant evacuation airlift in U.S. military history. The McConnell Scholars Program is a leadership and scholarship program at the University of Louisville. Following the discussion, he met with members of the U.S. Army’s Strategic Broadening Seminar (SBS). The SBS exposes Army leaders to new concepts that challenge their preconceived ideas about military, business, and economic problem-solving and conflict resolution.
