U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Ryan Gordinier, the commanding officer of 3d Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, gives a speech on the significance of the French Fourragere during a ceremony on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Sept. 30, 2021. Marines with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion earned the privilege to wear the French Fourragere while attached to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment in support of Operation Allies Welcome. The French Fourragere was originally awarded by the French government to members of the 5th and 6th Marine Regiments for their heroic actions at the Battle of Belleau Wood during WWI. They are the only Marine Corps units authorized to wear the decoration. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Eric Ramirez)
