A U.S. Marine Corps Combat Marksmanship Coach (CMC) helps a Marine during the new Annual Rifle Qualification (ARQ) on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 5, 2021. The CMC displays rank insignia given by Marines who have shot expert as it is a common practice in the Marine Corps as an appreciative gesture towards their coach. The ARQ is a three-day, combat-centric course of fire that tests Marines’ marksmanship skills in a dynamic-shooting environment. Shooters utilize artificial support, engage moving targets as well as engage targets while on the move. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Karis Mattingly)
