U.S. Army Sgt. Mason Kaufmann, assigned to 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, leads 1st Sustainment Brigade Soldiers through a rehearsal for upcoming operations at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), Pa., on Oct. 4, 2021. 1st Sustainment Brigade is providing reception, staging, and onward movement support for passengers in support of Operation Allies Welcome at PHL. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
