And then there's Spc. Brandi Mayer. Originally from Claremont, Minnesota, Mayer is one of the CAB's aviation operations specialists. To qualify for her position in the military, one must complete 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction. Part of this time is spent in the classroom, and the rest is spent in the field under simulated combat conditions. Outside of the National Guard, Mayer, who now lives in Preston, works in the world languages department at Fillmore Central High School, in Harmony, where she teaches Spanish.
