Officer Candidate School (OCS) class 04-22 students step off the tower during a third-class swimmer test at Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN), Rhode Island, Oct. 5. The test consists of jumping from a 10-foot tower into the pool to simulate abandoning ship, five minutes of floating in the prone position, coverall inflation, and a 50-yard swim. OCS morally, mentally, and physically develops civilians and fleet Sailors into newly commissioned officers and imbues them with the highest ideals of honor, courage and commitment to prepare graduates for service in the fleet as Naval officers.
