Dr. Alison Wiesenthal, Brooke Army Medical Center’s Department of Rehabilitation chair and the chief of the Palliative Care Service, conducts a simulated counseling session with Christine Pham, a BAMC staff members, during a training session for BAMC’s Palliative Care team. The interdisciplinary Palliative Care Team, which consists of a chaplain, nurse, physician, pharmacist, and a social worker, focuses the overall emotional, physical, and spiritual support for both patients and the patient’s support group in order to provide care that goes beyond treating the patient’s illness.
