U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Matthew Muldoon, a platoon sergeant with 2d Battalion, 3d Marines, 3d Marine Division, participates in an air assault on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 5, 2021. 2/3 secured the airfield allowing Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing to establish a forward arming and refueling point, enabling sustained aviation in support of Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations.
