Maryland National Guard Sgt. Ivan Day of the 58th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade, guides traffic at the Six Flags Mass Vaccination Site in Bowie, Maryland, March 19, 2021. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Arcadia Hammack)
Day, a Glen Burnie, Maryland native, is currently working at the Six Flags Mass Vaccination Site. He has been tasked with “observation”, which is to make sure that the patients have no adverse side effects for 15 minutes after receiving the #COVID19 vaccine, as well as traffic duty in the observation area. Day has been working at the Six Flags Site since Feb. 5, 2021, and even assisted the Guard with COVID-19 testing efforts last year. When not in uniform, you can find him working as a help desk technician for the Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C., spending time with his family, bowling, or using his culinary background to bake some cakes and cookies.
“It's great to see a lot of people come down and show their gratitude towards us, and seeing smiles on people that have been vaccinated,” said Day. “Seeing the cheerful people puts a smile on my face, and it feels great to be part of the solution.”
