Beau Higgins, military talent acquisition from Amazon, speaks with Afghan guests about career opportunities on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Nov. 4, 2021. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation brought employers from Amazon, U.S. Xpress, and United Airlines to provide an overview on potential employment opportunities and discuss U.S. work culture. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
