211108-N-FA490-2425 JAVA SEA (Nov. 8, 2021) Gunner’s Mate 1st Class Chase Fritzie, from Cathlamet, Wash., fires a .50 cal machine gun at target flares from the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6), during a joint weapons live-fire exercise with the Tentera Nasional Indonesia - Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL), during Cooperation Afloat and Readiness and Training (CARAT) Indonesia 2021. In its 27th year, the CARAT series is comprised of multinational exercises, designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies’ abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
