U.S. Marine Cpl Ghaad Jones receives a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal from LtCol Andrew D’Ambrogi, both with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211, on the flight deck of HMS Queen Elizabeth on November 10th, 2021, in the Gulf of Aden. Jones received the medal for his superior performance during the United Kingdom’s Carrier Strike Group 21 deployment, and after receiving the medal, ran 2.11 miles with it on his chest. The success of this deployment demonstrates that the United States and the UK are united in our efforts to ensure security and freedom of the seas, that our maritime power projection capabilities are interoperable, complementary, and global.
