Craig Pachihofer, 54th Operations Support Squadron commander, presents Senior Airman Katherine Strobach, 54th OSS weather analyst, the Air Education and Training Command Weather Airman of the Year award for fiscal year 2021, Oct. 29, 2021 on Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Strobach was awarded this distinction for her achievements Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 29, 2021. She directly supported the historic Virgin Galactic launch Blue Origin mission by identifying surrounding thunderstorms and assisting with launch deconfliction and timing. Strobach also directed weather support for Exercise Agile Combat Employment Reaper by identifying and delivering 24 hazardous weather notifications, ensuring the success and safety of operations for the world’s largest international maritime exercise. She also assisted with the DoD’s first MQ-9 Reaper island hop, and AETC’s longest continuous MQ-9 flight.
