Lt. Col. Craig Pachlihofer, 54th Operations Support Squadron commander, coins Tech. Sgt. Cody Howk, 54th OSS weather analyst, for winning the Air Education and Training Command Weather Noncommissioned Officer of the Year award for fiscal year 2021, Nov. 17, 2021 on Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Hawk was awarded this distinction for his achievements between Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 29, 2021. Hawk led the NATO and U.S. Forces Afghanistan weather cell and enabled 1.1 thousand hours of intelligence missions over 1.2 thousand miles of land, defending 650 military members operating in Kabul, Afghanistan. Hawk also set up long distance Remotely Piloted Aircraft weather support, securing Afghanistan counter terrorism operations in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance over the Kabul Embassy housing 650 people.
