U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Cooper Strand, the platoon commander of Heavy Equipment Operations Platoon, Engineer Support Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3d Marine Logistics Group, gives a brief during a bilateral mobility and survivability field exercise on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 1, 2021. The exercise was conducted for Marines and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members to train together, and to introduce and familiarize the JGSDF members to the Marine Corps heavy equipment. 3d MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III Marine Expeditionary Force’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
