MAYPORT, Fla. – (Dec. 3, 2021) – Rear Adm. Jim Aiken, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet, awards the Inter-American Naval Telecommunications Network (IANTN) Medal to Ecuadorian Navy Cmdr. Alexis Cevallos during a ceremony at fleet headquarters, Dec. 3, 2021. The IANTN Medal is awarded to Sailors who demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, discipline, esprit de corps, and proficiency in the field of naval communications during their tour of duty. Cevallos currently serves as IANTN’s Assistant Secretary for Strategic Planning. Established in 1962, IANTN’s mission is to maintain a permanent link among naval authorities of the Americas. U.S. 4th Fleet hosts the multi-national IANTN staff, which oversees IANTN detachments and operations centers in 18 partner nations in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
