Malone, the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) deputy commanding officer, speaks about the founding of the First Special Service Force during the Menton Opening Ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Dec. 6, 2021. Menton Week is held each year in celebration of the Special Forces heritage. Special Force's predecessor, the First Special Service Force, disbanded in Menton, France at the end of World War II on Dec. 5, 1944.
