JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - Col. Scott J. Malone, the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) deputy commanding officer, and a representative from the Canadian Special Operations Regiment, render a salute to the 1st SFG (A) Memorial Wall after placing a wreath during the Menton Opening Ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Dec. 5, 2021. The wreath was placed to honor special operations soldiers who gave their lives while freeing the oppressed. Menton Week is held each year in celebration of the Special Forces heritage. Special Force's predecessor, the First Special Service Force, disbanded in Menton, France at the end of World War II on Dec. 5, 1944.
