U.S. Airmen from the 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron and 1st Special Operations Squadron conduct a Forward Area Refueling Point operation on an F-35A Lightning II assigned to the 354th Air Expeditionary Wing during Operation Iron Dagger on Marine Corp Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Dec. 7, 2021. FARP specialists perform covert nighttime refueling operations in deployed locations when air-to-air refueling is impossible or where fueling points are inaccessible. This dynamic force employment demonstrated the 354th Air Expeditionary Wing’s ability to rapidly mobilize and deploy fifth generation airpower across the Indo-Pacific theater.
