Local Laos workers carry plywood down a hill during a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) recovery mission in the Xiangkhouang province, Laos, Nov. 10, 2021. DPAA personnel arrived to conduct excavation operations in an effort to find a U.S. reconnaissance pilot lost over Northern Laos during the Vietnam War. There are currently 1,584 unaccounted for Americans from the Vietnam War.
