U.S. Navy Lt. Carolan Whitney, an emergency room physician assistant, with shock trauma platoon, Combat Logistic Battalion (CLB) 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), speaks to Navy corpsmen while setting up a 305 tent during MEU exercise (MEUEX) on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 9, 2021. The corpsmen set up a 305 tent for their shock trauma training exercise in support of combat operations. MEUEX is a pre-deployment training exercise that validates and reinforces the MEU’s mission capabilities across all of the Marine subordinate elements. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
