Thomas Johnson, the Charles County site manager for Hagerty Consulting, sits among Maryland National Guard members in a class instructing participants on how to handle confidential information pertaining patient COVID-19 testing or other related activities on Jan. 7, 2022, at the Dundalk Readiness Center, Dundalk, Maryland. Hundreds of MDNG members, as well as civillian contractors, participated in training hosted by the Maryland Department of Health on coaching self swab COVID-19 test, patient registration, and proper usage of personal protective equipment. At the direction of Governor Larry Hogan, up to 1,000 MDNG members will be activated to assist state and local health officials with their response to rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
