Idaho Army National Guard 2Lt. Lauren Rachow is a graduate of Boise State University and the BSU Bronco Battalion. From Eagle River, Alaska she now serves as the Material and Readiness Coordinator for the Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site (MATES).
Rachow supervises the supply, production control, tool room and inspector sections for MATES. MATES is located at the entry point for the Orchard Combat Training Center. They repair and maintain of all the tracked combat equipment for the 116th Cavalry Brigade for units located in Idaho, Oregon and Nevada.
Rachow chose BSU because she wanted to remain somewhere in the Northwest. She was offered a scholarship at BSU and knew of its positive reputation through friends.
“ I wanted to be part of a school organization that would set me up for success,” she said.
Rachow graduated in 2019 and was commissioned in 2020. Some of her fondest memories at BSU were the regular field exercises, working the cannon at BSU football games and creating the friendships with her classmates.
The Office of Visual Information for Idaho Army National Guard will follow the Boise State University Bronco Battalion for the Spring 2022 Semester through graduation. The program trains young men and women to serve as officers and leaders. Graduates will serve as officers in the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard, and the U.S. Army Reserves. Several seniors scheduled to graduate will eventually serve in the Idaho Army National Guard, while some cadets are already currently serving in the Idaho Army National Guard while attending BSU. Many officers currently serving in the Idaho Army National Guard are graduates of the Bronco Battalion.
