From left to right, Chief Warrant Officers 2 Jeff Barnes, Brandon Holliday, DeBrandon Perryman, and Daniel Nembhard, all Army aviators assigned to 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, recreate a historic photo of Warrant Officers Clyde Romero, James Casher, Eldridge Johnson, and Bob Farris, all assigned C “Condor” Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War in early 1971. The Vietnam War was the first American war in which Black Americans served as Army helicopter pilots in combat operations.
