A U.S. Marine with Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron's 16, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) helps unload a Mobile Maintenance Facility off the SS Curtiss at Naval Base San Diego, San Diego, California, Feb. 10, 2022. Marines within 3rd MAW logistics squadrons stayed on the SS Curtiss in support of Winter Fury 22, where they established a tactical network and ground logistics chains to communicate and support logistical needs. Winter Fury 22 provides the opportunity for Marines of 3rd MAW to train for operating in a highly contested environment, assess the training and equipment as a naval expeditionary force-in-readiness, and showcase the ability to operate inside actively contested maritime spaces in support of fleet operations.
