    Coast Guard canine "Niki", an explosives detection canine assigned to Maritime Safety and Security Team Seattle, is lowered from the second deck of a Pierce County ferry to the using ropes and rigging techniques on Jan. 25, 2022, near Steilacoom, WA. This training familiarizes the canines, handlers, and extended teams with the techniques needed to respond to a variety of threats, such as explosives, in the maritime environment.
