Coast Guard Canine "Niki", an explosives detection canine assigned to Maritime Safety and Security Team Seattle, is lowered from a Pierce County ferry to a 29-foot Coast Guard response boat using ropes techniques on Jan. 25, 2022, near Steilacoom, WA. This training familiarizes the canines, handlers, and extended teams with the techniques needed to respond to a variety of threats, such as explosives, in the maritime environment.
