Brig. Gen. Farin Schwartz greets Sgt. 1st Class Vincent Mele Feb. 17 at the Idaho Department of Corrections where Mele is one of several dozen Idaho National Guard Soldiers and Airmen temporarily augmenting correctional officers. The Idaho Department of Corrections is short handed due in part to COVID pandemic. Guard members are filling administrative type roles that would normally be occupied by correctional officers.
