Lt. Col. Todd Hudson, 152nd Airlift Wing Chief of Safety, presents the Mervin T. Johnson Memorial Trophy to Staff Sgt. Hannah Kasner at the Nevada Air National Guard annual awards ceremony. Kasner received a full standing ovation for this presentation. Kasner is a 152nd Security Forces Squadron member who was activated to assist with the Caldor fire raging in the South Tahoe region. While en-route, she observed a male individual lying face down on the ground, alone and unconscious. She pulled over and raced to the individual. Upon assessment, Sergeant Kasner determined that the individual had no pulse or signs of breathing. She immediately turned the victim over and started CPR. Within about 30-50 compressions, the man gasped for air. Kasner comforted the individual until local law enforcement arrived on scene and EMTs were dispatched. Knowing the victim was now in good hands, she continued on her way to assist the citizens threatened by the Caldor fire.
