NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (March 21, 2022) – Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Aliana Alvarado, left, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Interior Communications Electrician Seaman Dionche A. Reynolds, from Houston, both assigned to combat systems department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), examine the interior components of a shipboard public announcing system speaker. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernizations.
