NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (March 21, 2022) – Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Aliana Alvarado, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, assigned to the combat systems department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), teaches Interior Communications Electrician Seaman Dionche A. Reynolds, from Houston, also assigned to the ship’s combat systems department, about the functions and usage of a general purpose multimeter. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernizations.
