British Armed Forces Staff Sgt. Sam Potts, Drum Major, 1st Battaltion Welsh Guards, receives a coin for his excellence from U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Brandon D. Parker, Chief of Staff for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) at the CJTF-OIR compound March 30, 2022 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. The British Army maintains a Corps of Drums in each Foot Guards Battalion. The platoon is made up of Guardsmen trained to play drums and bugles. Multiple Corps of Drums may be 'massed' together on certain occasions. All members of the Corps are called drummers (shortened to 'Dmr') regardless of the instrument they play.
