Sky Soldiers complete Col. Darby 40-miler challenge

(From left to right) 1st Lt. Luke Evyn, with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Sgt. Logan Reedschaaf, and Spc. Sam Hanchold, both with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, pose at the finish line during the Col. Darby 40-mile challenge and WWII terrain-walk event. Reedschaaf finished first with a time of 4 hours and 48 minutes, Evyn was one minute behind for second and Hanchold finished 3rd with a time of 5 hours and 1 minute. More than 500 participated in the event, youngest being 12 years old. Participants walked, ran, and marched the approximately 40-mile course along the banks of Lake Garda to reflect on what happened on the shores of the lake 76 years earlier. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
