SAN DIEGO (May 4, 2022) – Juan Carlos Pinzón, the Colombian ambassador to the United States, speaks with the commanding officer, Capt. Tony Chavez, and executive officer, Capt. Andria Slough, about the general mission of the well deck during a visit to amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), May 4. The visit is a demonstration of the strong U.S. commitment to partners in the Caribbean, Central and South America, fostering goodwill and enhancing our collective ability to respond to natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
