U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Rafel Eddinfield, 36th Aircraft Maintenance Unit electro and environmental systems journeyman, opens a panel to check an F-16 Fighting Falcon’s internal system during an environmental control system test in support of RED FLAG-Alaska 22-1 at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, May 4, 2022. An ECS test examines air pressure levels throughout the aircraft to ensure fuel can transfer properly and sustain specific temperatures to cool the cockpit and various components. Approximately 2,200 service members from the U.S., Great Britain and Canada participated in flying, maintaining and supporting more than 90 aircraft from over 25 units during this iteration of the exercise.
