Rear Adm. Walter E. Carter, Jr., commander of the Enterprise Carrier Strike Group, and Capt. Robert D. Boyer, commander of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1, prepare to launch from the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) in an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the “Checkmates” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 211 for an aerial change of command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 50. Enterprise is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom.
