220512-N-AS200-5402 POINT MUGU, Calif. (May 12, 2022) – Capt. Robert "Barr" Kimnach III, commanding officer, Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), center, and Capt. Kirk Lagerquist, chief staff officer, center-right, review blueprints during a tour of a $53 million Coast Guard Air Station project onboard Point Mugu, May 12. The permanent new air station will include a 43,045-square-foot hangar facility with four bays, shops, and storage for MH65T and MH60J helicopters, as well as a 12,183-square-foot administration building and open in May 2023. NBVC is a strategically located Naval installation composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island.
