Spc. Rafael Cubero, assigned to the 475th Engineer Company, U.S. Army Reserve-Puerto Rico, received the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Afghanistan. The 457th Engineer Company had one of the most difficult missions any unit from the U.S. Army Reserve-Puerto Rico has ever faced. The unit was in charge of extending the infrastructure of the country to places controlled by the Taliban. "This was an experience that changed my life. However, I would do it again if I had to," said Cubero shortly after receiving his award.
