Blanchfield Army Community Hospital physician, Dr. Michael A. Helwig, medical director of Soldier Health Services, was named Civilian Hero of Military Medicine, by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine during an award ceremony in Washington D.C., May 5. He was formerly an active duty Soldier on Fort Campbell and also served as the deputy commander for clinical services at BACH before retiring after 24 years in the Army. Helwig continues to serve and give back to Military Medicine as a government civilian.
