Cadet Connor Murphy, a business management major at U.S. Army West Point, experienced Army active duty life at Fort Stewart, Georgia, during the month of June as part of the Cadet Troop Leader Training Program.
"I chose to do aviation at Hunter Army Airfield because it's an extremely professional organization, and the 3rd Infantry Division is extremely modern compared to the rest of the divisions across the Army," he said. "On top of that, I know Hunter Army Airfield is located in a really nice location in Savannah, Georgia, and it's surrounded with elite units such as the 75th and the 160th that also share this installation."
"I grew up in the shadow of an Army officer and my dad was an aviation officer. I saw the values that were instilled in him at such a young age and I realized that in the aviation community, you're surrounded by such professional Soldiers. It's a tremendous honor and privilege to lead those Soldiers and throughout this experience at Hunter Army Airfield so far, I recognize that and want to double down and lead America's sons and daughters. On top of that, being a military brat, I lived a privileged life and ultimately want to give back for the life I was afforded as a child."
