TINIAN, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (June 10, 2022) Engineers from the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Ground Vehicle Systems Center integrate a Lightweight Water Purification System (LWPS) on the island of Tinian in support of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5 during Valiant Shield 2022. The graywater waste recycling prototype demonstration of the technology utilizes reverse osmosis to treat the water followed by chlorination, recycling water at a 75 - 80% recovery rate, effectively reducing the water resupply requirement in the field. Exercises such as Valiant Shield allows the Indo-Pacific Command Joint Forces the opportunity to integrate forces from all branches of service to conduct precise, lethal, and overwhelming multi-axis, multi-domain effects that demonstrate the strength and versatility of the Joint Force and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
