TINIAN, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (June 10, 2022) Benjamin Thomas from Warren, MI., from the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Ground Vehicle Systems Center inspects part of the Lightweight Water Purification System (LWPS) designed to recycle graywater waste on the island of Tinian in support of Valiant Shield 2022. The integration of the LWPS with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5 was a prototype demonstration, with the system utilizing reverse osmosis to treat the water followed by chlorination, recycling water at a 75 - 80% recovery rate, effectively reducing the water resupply requirement in the field. Exercises such as Valiant Shield allows the Indo-Pacific Command Joint Forces the opportunity to integrate forces from all branches of service to conduct precise, lethal, and overwhelming multi-axis, multi-domain effects that demonstrate the strength and versatility of the Joint Force and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
