Trevor Kuhns, 22nd Logistics Readiness Squadron agile combat employment program lead, directs a R-11 fuel truck for a hot refuel on a KC-46A Pegasus assigned to McConnell Air Force Base at Yokota Air Base, Japan, June 10, 2022. Hot pit refueling uses a single-point refuel pump, allowing an aircraft to be refueled immediately after landing, with the engine running. This procedure is more frequently used with fighter jets, but is newer to the KC-46A, making it essential to practice and increase capabilities available to the Pacific Air Forces.
