U.S. Navy Electronic Attack Squadron 130 plane captains work to repair a mid-air fuel replenishing pod on a EA-18G Growler during the Red Flag 22-2 exercise at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, June 16, 2022. The VAQ-130 “Zappers” squadron is composed of specialized variants of the F-18F Super Hornet, which includes tactical jamming capabilities and advanced radar suites to help other squadrons protect against adversary electronic warfare and retain communication abilities in contested environments. Red Flag-Alaska is the only exercise of its kind that provides allied nations and joint-partner forces the opportunity to see mock combat and high operational working tempo in a simulated deployed environment.
