Installation Commanding Officer Capt. James R. McIver led the military division of the Bristol, RI 4th of July Parade earlier today. This year marked the 237th year of the town's parade, making it the oldest Independence Day parade in the country. NAVSTA Newport commands participating included Marine Corps Detachment Newport, RI, Navy Band Northeast, Officer Training Command Newport, and U.S. Navy Supply Corps School. The USS Milwaukee (LCS 5), which was anchored in Bristol Harbor, also had a contingent march in the parade.
