220511-N-WT203-0006 NEWPORT, R.I. (May 11, 2022) Officer Development School (ODS) class 22050 students sit at attention at the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Combat Training at Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN), Rhode Island, for the third-class swimmer qualification. The test consists of jumping from a 10-foot tower into the pool to simulate abandoning ship, five minutes of floating in the prone position, coverall inflation, and a 50-yard swim. ODS provides staff corps officers and several restricted line designators with the training necessary to prepare them to function in their role as commissioned Naval officers.
