William Wheeler, Chief of Staff of U.S. Strategic Command, talks to a Sailor in the missile control center aboard the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Alaska (SSBN 732) while visiting Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia. Alaska is one of six ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base, providing the most survivable leg of the strategic deterrence triad for the United States.
