During an exercise led by Arnold Engineering Development Complex’s Inspector General’s Office and the Commander’s Wing Inspection Team, Fire and Emergency Services personnel Chevis Lee, center, a firefighter, and Ken Young, right, a paramedic/firefighter, spray water to indicate they are battling a fire and speeding the dissipation of a chemical plume released as a result of an simulated explosion, July 12, 2022, at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. The exercise simulated a terrorist attack on the base to test the response by various organizations on base. The smoke seen in the photo was a special effect, or theatrical smoke, for training purposes. Due to the heat index, personnel did not wear all the gear they would in a real-life situation. Also pictured is Jay Baldwin, left, a firefighter/crew chief. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jill Pickett) (This image has been altered by obscuring signage for security purposes.)
