U.S. Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and U.S. Navy Sailors with repair division, Amphibious Assault Ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7), cut and remove a joint service lightweight integrated suit for a decontamination drill aboard the LHA-7, in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 9, 2022. After a chemical, biological, radioactive, or nuclear attack personnel returning to the interior of the vessel, must be decontaminated to ensure no contamination of embarked personnel. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
